What is a Root Canal Filling?

Root fillings or Root canal treatments are needed when a large cavity in a tooth reaches the nerve chamber, or in some cases when a tooth breaks. Root filling involves removing bacteria and damaged or dead nerves from inside the tooth and then cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, before filling to seal them. The dentist may refer you to a specialist endodontist to undertake the root canal treatment.

Is treatment painful?

No. We usually use local anaesthetic throughout the procedure, and every possible step is taken to ensure that you are comfortable while the work is carried out.

How long does the treatment take?

This can vary according to the complexity of the root canals, the presence of infection, or if re-treatment is being carried out. Sometimes treatment can be carried out in one session. Although further treatment may be required if the canals are infected, or are being retreated.

Service Recipient Says

Having had treatment for implants for nearly two years, I wish to express my admiration for the kindness and utter professionalism from Dr Sarabi & the team. I am so thrilled with the result and would highly recommend this treatment to anyone interested.

Mrs Joan Lowery Gloucestershire

For over 40 years of my life I have worn dentures replacing all my teeth on my upper and lower jaw. I had always hated my smile and it really did affect my self confidence.

Mrs Ellen O’Neill Oxfordshire

I have just completed a course of treatment, replacing my whole upper jaw with a snius elevation, dental implants and a fixed bridge on top. After my first consulation, I felt 100% clear on what the process would be and what time frame I was looking at. Overtime I got to know my dentist well, and was impressed with his clinical and sugical skills.
